100 Greatest Discoveries – Astronomy

The world is amazing. What’s more incredible is that it’s only a mere fraction of our remarkable solar system. A system that we are constantly learning more and more about. The numerous discoveries from the past will have nothing on the what future astronomers will uncover.
Most commonly known as the Science Guy, Bill Nye explains the 13 greatest discoveries of astronomy to date. As part of the Science Channel’s 100 Greatest Discoveries series, the astronomy segment is both interesting and unnerving. Even if Astronomy is not your passion, you will enjoy this film.
Coming in at number 13, a relatively recent discovery is that our universe is accelerating. But what does this mean and how will it affect life on our planet? It’s referred to as the “big rip,” but why?
This educational documentary brings us back as early as 2000 B.C.. It was then that we discovered Earth was part of a solar system. That stars in the sky were moving and following patterns.
Astronomy is an interesting topic and Bill Nye manages to make it more compelling with in this film with his list of great discoveries. We’re unsure what the next discovery will be. Will today’s astronomers find the next greatest solar discovery?
