A Hard Day’s Night – The Beatles

I don’t know anyone who isn’t familiar with at least one Beatles song. Just the other day I caught myself humming a tune. That being said, it’s no surprise A Hard Day’s Night came together shortly after the Fab Four hit America.
In this 1964 classic Richard Lester, director for the film chronicles a 36-hour period the rock sensations life. For the millions of screaming fans, A Hard Day’s Night was the greatest film they had ever seen. It could be compared, although I would rather not, to how the millions of Beliebers felt when Justin Bieber’s film hit the big-screen.
My 34-year old sister bragged about the film. I didn’t see it, nor do I want to. This rock n’ roll comedy though, is one I take pleasure watching over and over. As these four set the bar for rock n’ roll as we know it today.
Working from Alun Owen’s script, Lester urged John, Paul, George, and Ringo not to act but instead be themselves. He chose this approach instead of attempting to turn the musicians into actors. The result, a complete success! It comes as no surprise that in 2005, Time.com named A Hard Day’s Night one of the greatest films of the last 80 years.
