After School Arms Club

In this special edition of Dispatches, Mark Thomas sheds light on the arms trade. I find this documentary to be rather disturbing and a little scary. The thought of my children gaining access to such weaponry so easily, is both frightening and unnerving. After School Arms Club features a group of teenagers acting as arms dealers. It will astound you how simple it is for them to move weaponry.
Experience the shock as Thomas uncovers the several inconsistencies and loopholes in the legal system that allow these teenagers to arrange the exchange of weaponry. He showcases a group of teenagers who broker everything from sting sticks, thumb cuffs, and wall cuffs to and from various countries around the world. If you’re wondering what a sting stick is, it’s two-foot metal bars with a sharp point, covered with sharp spikes. A weapon that could only be used for torture.
It is even more appalling what Thomas reveals when he discovers a neighbouring European country with no brokerage laws. Teenagers with access to machine guns and weaponry that shouldn’t be accessible to anyone, let alone teenagers.
I can’t decide what is more disturbing in this film, teens being able to move weaponry so easily or the Israeli dealer that actually defends selling a machine gun to these teens. This 47 minute documentary is a real eye-opener that our laws need to change, and quickly.
