Released in 2006 Aaron Russo covers an array of topics in America: Freedom to Fascism. From the Internal Revenue Service to human-implanted RFID tags he provides insight into fascism within America. Diebold electronic voting machines, taser weapons abuse, and Big Brother paves the way for this controversial topic.

Russo interviews former IRS and FBI agents, a past IRS Commissioner, authors, tax attorneys and two U.S. Congressman in his attempt to make the connections between money creation and federal income tax. He uncovers the purpose of the national identity card which uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

In his hunt to find the law that makes Americans pay income tax, Russo manages to discredit both the IRS and the Federal Reserve by shedding light on their crooked basis. The film is celebrated by many as ground-breaking. It also received a standing ovation when it opened at the Cannes Film Festival.

If you pay taxes or plan to someday, this a must-see film for you. Right from the start, Russo sets out to make a point and does a very good job of it with his editing techniques and exceptional interview footage. America: From Freedom to Fascism is an effective, eye-opening film.

Okay, fine. But does it say we are required to pay it?

    • Joe

Better yet, can you show me the law on the books rather than from a university?

    • Joe

It all comes back down to the Fed. We must end it lest we go the way of the Roman Republic.

    • Show me the law

Title 26 Sec 6151 requires you to pay the tax shown on your return filed under Sec 6012. No I cannot physically show you the law in a book because I'm telling you this over the internet.

Here is the same law on the house of representatives website.

Where does it say that you're wages and labor are taxed? It only talks about income, which is something that a business makes, not a person.

    • Anonymous Coward

All things considered: fuck the law.

    • Show me your fanatic republican …

here is the dissections that says sec 6111,6112, 6151, is pure BS

      I rest my case

    • RyanC

Looking for a written law is missing the point.

It doesn't matter if there's a paper saying that you should kill another person…it doesn't make it right.

The people in the US government have no moral or logical right to take money at gunpoint for services forced upon people.

All "services" of the US government can and should be supplied on a voluntary basis just like any other good or service in the economy.

Violent monopolies don't serve the public…they rape. Asking for anything different is utopian.

    • Andrew

I'm not an American, so there's no reason for me to get upset, but I'm shocked nevertheless.
I'm not naive, I know that all governments of all countries lie. But after seeing yet ANOTHER doc about American government fu*king with its people left me disgusted. It's just plain ridiculous.
We have a saying in Slovakia that goes "He who is silent gives consent". Which means that all the people who refuse to answer a simple yes/no question are in fact agreeing with what the filmmaker says.
I'm not in a position to judge, but if 3000 prostesters are not enough, then bring more. There is 300 million of you there for fu*k's sake, the government can't do jack sh*t if millions of people step up.
I wish you luck in regaining the freedom your government has taken away from you.

    • Show me the law

In reply to #3025. The link seems to be agreeing with the law, yet you seem to think its discrediting those laws?

RyanC: They actually do have the right to impose taxes. It is a right which is enumerated in the constitution. If you disagree with the constitution, then you should try to get it changed through legal means. I'm glad you're trying to have an impact, but you should use better reasoning so others will agree.

Andrew: Many of the claims made in this documentary are absurdly false. And though I do take issue with some of our governments actions and some tax laws, I believe we should use solid factual evidence and strong arguments to change things.

I was legitimately interested in this topic because I was shocked to hear some of the points the presenter brought up. After some research many are obviously untrue.

Replying to Comment 3038: "They actually do have the right to impose taxes. It is a right which is enumerated in the constitution. A document signed by dead people 300 years ago is NOT A CONTRACT with me. You can't sign a contract that the unborn 300 years from now are required to obey. If so, I have a paper right here saying that your children owe me 50% of their income. Don't worry, I'll spend it on the poor.

It is YOU who should use better logic. You can't just say "it's actually true".

    • DK McGreeb

this is a reply tp the following statement:

so you are ready to accept legal advice from an internet server changeable by any member? i pity you should you find this a reliable source of information on how to live your life. the general public arent interested in discovering things themselves anymore, people nowadays just want someone to write down what to do and tell them thats life, if you wanna go with them so be it but dont say you werent warned when you end up in a concentration camp like the rest of us.

      This is a big lie

go to http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-utl/friv_tax.pdf – the irs did dispel all the lame arguments russo makes.

Also rwin Schiff and two associates, Cynthia Neun and Lawrence N. Cohen, got jail time for selling a dodgy tax scam about the rubbish show me the law argument: http://www.justice.gov/tax/txdv04551.htm

Time: 58:21 – I KNEW Ron Paul would have to show up sooner of later!
This had to have been made sometime before *Jack-Ass George (Bush, "DUH"b-ya) ran the U.S. into a financial hole that was so deep that it went all the way to China, …..and then promptly handed them the deed to our country's ownership.

      Re:#3084, 2nd paragraph:
Hi JS – for the life of me I can't figure out your joke. Except for this part:
"A document signed by dead people….not a contract"
Ha ha – I get that: Dead people don't sign anything – THEY'RE DEAD! LOL
As for the rest of the paragraph? – I'm clueless.
(It IS supposed to be a joke, isn't it?)

I think SMtL hit each nail squarely in #3038. (He?) may reference a wiki, but that info can also be found in un-editable documents.

    • (just a) F R O G on the LOG

time:1:00:38 – "most people spend the great bulk of their money on taxes, interest, inflation" – (BZZZ) – WRONG! I think the correct answer for that would be: people with 250k+ annual income, not "most people". Then again – Bush Buddy tax cuts

    • Show me the law

JS: The US is like a club. We have a club charter (the constitution) which describes how the club is to be operated. If you want to be a member of the club, you must abide by the rules or face punishment. I don't know what else to tell you. You could opt to return to the state of nature Locke describes I guess.

DK McGreeb: No, I wouldn't trust wikipedia solely, but it is a good starting point because there are tons of external links and cited reference material. Have you gone and tested these same tax law arguments in the court system personally? If not you are also obtaining information from a secondary source. Its funny that you argue that people shouldn't trust information from others on a site that's dedicated to that exact principle using documentary videos.

    • (just a) F R O G on the LOG

I love politics. I just want to toss a few last thoughts in here. (just thoughts – no checked factoids)
I'm vaguely aware of Ron Pauls pitch points – they're interesting – one being convert the taxation system from income/labor to sales/consumer. Maybe that could have worked back in the good 'ol days,(whick, for me would be from my BD in 1971 'til Bush#2, day1) But wouldn't it be unsustainable under our current circumstances? when all our manufacturing and industry has bailed on us like rats jumping ship. Everybody and their brother is on unenjoyment. How could that system function without the citizens having a sufficient level of disposable income available to expend in order to generate that tax base? If I understand correctly, the idea is to create a more level playing field, yet how would it accommodate those who were without income – seniors, the disabled, children. They barely survive NOW without any taxation.

Instead of re-inventing the wheel, why don't we demand an end to all these god-damn, bull shit loophole opportunities that are provided for the cash fat pigs and corporations to screw America out of astronomical amounts of justified tax revenue? I once heard on Bill Moyer (PBS) something like – if the U.S. were able to collect just 50% of that diverted revenue, it could be equally offset by giving a 15 – 18% income tax reduction, straight across the board, to all incomes of $100k or less. Seems like that would come pretty darn close to eliminating income tax for a shitload of people!

Or if we could eliminate even a FRACTION of those Federal expenditures that I am certain 99.9% of us could agree upon as being absolutely ridiculous. Maybe if we all just invested 10min(?), 20min(?) a week to familiarize ourselves, even the slightest, with what our senators and congressmen are up to, and then spend a lousy 2 min. more to email them our opinions. I seriously think it can matter. Its what our liberties were intended for.

I won't claim to have a clue as to how America got so fucked up in the last 10+years, but its easy enough to see that it is. Be that as it may, I still think its worth every last penny I pay, as a wage earning citizen, to call it my home.

    • Austin

you missed the point completely none of your income tax money ends up in government programs it pays off interest on debt the national debt. You need monetary system reformation to change this reality.

    • Not for the Log

I am displeased that this is considered a documentary.

Aaron was a great director but this is pure bullshit.

    • (just a) F R O G on the LOG

And now I must be missing your point, because the allocation of tax money for government programs is neither 'the point' of my comment, nor the film.

    • annie donovan

If enough people viewed this and spread the information around perhaps one could get a movement going, but most people are too busy trying to make a living and when they do have time they just want to shut the world out and find some time to enjoy the fruits of their labor. So the last thing they want to do is think about fighting the entrenched tax system……but to see this film makes you think alot about all the money the government has confiscated from you all these years and it makes your blood boil!!!!!!! It is mind blowing that no one can find the law that says it is legal to tax your labor…..UNBELIEVABLE PEOPLE!!!

I truly wonder if anyone in any other country really has the same attitude toward taxation. America pays – is it the least, or among the lowest, I can’t remember – tax of any country. On top of this businesses have to clearly advertise the tax applied to each item – GST I think, and you STILL have these people whining about paying tax. They’ve only just begun to emerge from the 18th Century and begun to deal with Racial segregation and gay coupling and may even have something approaching a Health Care System that benefits the poor, and they STILL whine about Tax. They invade other countries on a whim, spend billions on that, not to mention NASA, and they STILL whine about tax, and on and on it goes.
