It’s the controversial question we have striven to answer for decades, is there life on other planets? The BBC takes us on a galactic adventure attempting to offer a solution to this age-old mystery. Are We Alone In the Universe does not profess to have proof of life on other planets. It instead offers an interesting look into the vast amount of scientific equipment and methods that are used to search for signs of extraterrestrial life.
Recently, there has been a revolutionary discovery as astronomers have uncovered a new planet. Gliese 581 c, is like no other planets discovered, except our own. The newly found planet orbits a star and might have environments that are capable of supporting life. To date it is the most Earth-like planet known to science, which offers hope that there is extraterrestrial life.
By the end of the decade, NASA hopes to discover 50 more similar planets, Earth-like planets. If they manage to do so, it will only prove to strengthen the theory that there is life on other planets than Earth. Are We Alone In The Universe contains 50 minutes of strong material. It is worth a watch for those curious about extraterrestrials and life outside of planet Earth.
