Originally airing on The History Channel in January of 2004, Barbarians-The Vikings takes us back to a much different time. Robert Gardner directs this vicious depiction of eight of history’s most frightening tribes. The Lombards, Vandals, Vikings, Goths, Huns, Mongols, Franks, and Saxons unleashed havoc on society.

Clancy Brown uses his fast-paced narration to keep us at the edge of our seats during this action-filled documentary. Complete with large-scale battle re-enactments and riveting stunts it recreates a frightening time in our history. A time when these savage warriors went against the Roman brigade and terrified the European population.

Barbarians-The Vikings uncovers 1,000 years of thrilling adventures with some of the most comprehensive reenactments shot on film. Following the tribes from the North Sea to the Russian steppes evoking pictures of cruelty and chaos. This brilliant documentary showcases how these heathens managed to take down an empire.

Interesting documentary.. Just one thing.. Scandinavia is: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland AND DENMARK.. Danes are mentioned but not marked as a part of Scandinavia on the map in this documentary.. Makes me wonder if they even know where it is!!

Very poor use of research in actual scandinavian history!! It all seems like a big blur….
Why not use some of the real exciting documented story’s??

WHY DO PEOPLE STILL SAY COLUBUS,VIKINGS,SPAIN DISCOVERED AMERICA,THE ONES WHO DISCOVERED AMERICA WERE THE ASIAN WHO FIRST CROSS OVER FROM RUSSIA TO ALASKA AND THEN STAYED AND EXPANDED AN SETTLED AMEICA SHOULD BE GIVEN THE TITLE….CAN SOME ONE EXPLAIN WHT THIS IS NOT A FACT.

I totally agree Joe.I’ve often wondered this myself.I have discovered that it is mainly north Americans that believe America was first discovered by europeans ie.Vikings,Colombus etc,the rest of the world seems to know that the first settlers were Asian,possibly 9000 years before europeans landed on it’s shores.What really bothers me is the way north American natives still continue to call themselves “Indian”,this is a mistake made by Colombus that has never been corrected.
