Can We Make It to Mars?

In 1961 JFK predicted that there would be a man on the moon before 1970. No one really believed him, but it happened (unless you believe that it did not! – well, then it still happened!). In 1970 it was predicted that America would put a man on Mars by 1980. Nobody thought that it wouldn’t happen – by 1990, or 2000, or 2010. Now, in 2012 we must ask ourselves: CAN WE MAKE IT TO MARS? Many questions present themselves. First, it would take three years to go to Mars and back: far longer than a trip to the moon. Second, there is a very real risk of meteors. Will we ever put a man on Mars? Or, is it just too expensive? Do we have what it takes/
