Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore takes us on a capitalist adventure in his  documentary Capitalism: A Love Story. He explores the effect corporations have on our daily lives by presenting it to the viewers in a comedic, yet moving way. Moore sets out to uncover how capitalism effects society and why it is the drive behind America.

The film covers a topic in which Moore has spent his career examining. He unravels how disastrous the impact of corporate dominance is, not just on everyday Americans, but on the world. As viewers will see and Moore will present, General Motors is only a small piece of this capitalist puzzle.

He takes us from Middle America to Washington, to the financial epicentre in Manhattan. Moore travels into controversial territory. A territory in which Moore, excels in. All to answer the trivial question of what is the consequence Americans are paying for their love of capitalism? A love that in the past appeared innocent, yet today the picture isn’t so pleasant.

Visiting the homes of ordinary people who’s lived have been shattered, Moore is compelled to uncover the answers by travelling across the US. What he finds is unnerving abuse, betrayals, lies, and most disturbing 14,000 jobs per day being lost. Michael Moore will sadden, enlighten and make you furious all at the same time in Capitalism: A Love Story.

Wow. Looks like something went horribly wrong. I'll fix this asap and let you all know.

    • Jmk

too bad what we are living in has nothing to do with capitalism – it's corporate socialism, brought about by people like Moore.

    • Jesse T

      you're a real pal, DL.

    • Atanas Youroukov

Yeah! There's no sound and on the 2nd part I see only black!

BTW: Documentary-log rock! Keep up the good work

Ok, it's fixed now. And remember, rate the documentary, not my performance ;) I've reset the ratings. See you around! -Tim

Thank you for fixing it! :-) You are a true hero! :-)

What I actually do not understand about this documentary is that it is about the corporate establishment and such, about freedom and yet it was very hard to find it online. For free. :-D

      Anyways, thanks again.

Awww DL, if there were a rating on your performance I'm sure we all would give you 5 gleaming stars (and then some +)!

A full salute to you Michael. Please America join Michael, he knows exactly what is going on.

I hope that this film will inspire the people of America. This film tells it as it is I hope the Americans catch on to this one.

May the power be with you American people!!!

    • Yagisanatode

It's a shame that he go religious half way through the doco. Really detracted from the credibility of his program.

    • Nikolaj

Wonderfull, stand up for your right!!

    • dwyane shaw

Unlike Yagisanitode, I think the religious aspect sited in the film didn't go far enough. It never ceases to amaze me how "Christians" almost always act in ways that are contrary to the teachings of Christ. (Support for the Death Penalty, for example)

Not that they can't find precedent and justification in the Bible for nearly any evil act they care to commit. But they wiil find little support in the words attributed to Jesus.

Jesus was completly against capitalism. The only instance of Him ever being violent was against the moneychangers. All his preaching was in favor of the poor and against the rich.

He even said, "sell everything you own and give the money to the poor" – "Store your treasures in heaven not on earth because your heart is with your treasure"

Jesus was a communist. He lived communally with his disciples and, when he died, the disciples carried on his belief.

In Acts it says (paraphrased) "all the church lived together, selling all they possessed and distributing goods to everyone as they had need" –

Ananais and his wife were struck dead for trying to hold back some of the money when they sold their house

So, here we live in a nation where the vast majority claim to be Christian, and yet they completly ignore one of the most basic teachings of their Messiah. This isnt overly surprising since this aspect of Christ's teaching is never preached in the churches. If they were to preach this tenet, who would fill the collection plates?

    • sect

hate this player, caps at 72mins making it pretty pointless and wasteful to start watching the doco.

    • Wayne

Everyone attacks Michael Moore, but they always have a hard time refuting the information in his documentaries.
I just wish he provided more comprehensive methods that can help people out of these situations.
BTW, megavideo is an annoying source for videos unless you pay them not to stop the video.

    • chrishowred

Lost me at Obama!! he is part of the CFR and denies it (He point blank says "Is there a card or something?!", playing dumb), while his wife admits to being a member. He has done none of the things he said he would do…kudos to Mr. Moore for trying but he too sadly is asleep!! Smacks of illuminati.

    • alex apostolidis

how Ironic that MEGAVIDEO try to make MONEY out of a free doco… there you go.. 72 minuts then you better pay if you want to see the end of the doco…

that only would make me NEVER to pay or do a donation.. to them…

    • n/a

I completely agree with the comment of Jmk (the second comment from the bottom). There is no doubt, the capitalism is not perfect. However, if you want to make a real point you must present practical and workable alternative.
I suspect that Mr. More is cashing on people misfortune.
He should make a movie for the communism and show how the very people that were at the top in all communist countries are now on the top of the business and politics elite in that countries with the only change that now they are called socialist. Instead of being accused for all kind of crimes against humanity ( just one example – over 100 million people dead without a court) they were well accepted in international business and politics even in the capitalist countries….

    • alex apostolidis

well the way to go is people should have a share of the companies profit where they work in.
and not just a few dollars per/h

and there is no satch a thing like 'free trade'
how can you compid where others how work for 1 to 3 dollars a day no medical nothing.

communisem did not work because there where imbargos agains them….y not free trad with cuba ? just because they have a differnent political view.. what is the crime ?

is it not in the constitution that people can have freedome of choise religion and political side ?

the way I look at is is we are realy in a box no way out… never free to think what you want or do what you want.
to many people confuse democrasy with PLUTOCRASI… pluto=greek for wealth
in to day greek pousios/ ploti rich

    • (just a) F R O G on the LOG

"…people should have a share of the companies profit…"
A great many do. Its called 'Profit Sharing', offered as an incentive in an employees benefit package. Provided the profits exist, an employer may distribute this revenue either as a periodic bonus, or hold it in a tax deferred account for the employees retirement. I've worked for several different employers; all of them fair, if not generous in this respect.

Hi people, after reading reports that you have to pay to watch after 74mins, I was tempted not to watch this, I then read the FAQ and found out:

      6. If you use Firefox, you can additionally install the illimitux add-on to bypass the time limits on some videos.

      RTFM

It is not a new knowledge that capitalism is created for exploitation of common people by some elite and privileged people of the society. It creates unjust society. The US Constitution does not have words like Free market or free competition or corporate person. Still the rich and privileged people have created a new constitution of their own for their own benefits. It is called company act. Where one person-one-vote rule is not applied. The results of this manipulations by a few have now been seen by the entire world. It is unequal distribution of national wealth.
Capitalism cannot survive without poverty, exploitation, unemployment, inflation and all those anti-social elements. But the same capitalism cannot also survive eternally. Its fall has to come sooner or later. The time has now reached to see its fall across the world. It does not mean that Marxism is good. It is rather worse than capitalism.
We need an economic system providing equal sharing of national wealth. Sharing the benefits by working people equally or as per their own agreements. The economists from the West have not yet theorized any economic system due their own loyalty to capitalists for education, jobs, research work etc.
There is an economist who has done this work in 1993. He presented a theoretical economic model by name "Hindu economics- Eternal Economic Order" for the good of the mankind of the world. This is an alternative to capitalism and Marxism. The second edition of this book is now available from http://www.pothi.com Those who are looking for an alternative to capitalism and Marxism, please read this for illumination.

      Moore's argument is this:

      Premise: People are selfish.

Proposed solution: Give a small group of people the right to use violence to force others to pay for them and obey their rules.

That is a logical contradiction Michael Moore. If people are selfish, then the only solution is freedom. A violent monopoly will simply allow MORE stealing. In a free society selfishness will have to be tempered by voluntary interactions. In a government based society, the powerful rule the weak.

The government is the CAUSE of ALL of the problems in the movie.

And I find it amazing that, the same government featured in Fahrenheit 9-11, is the government that he thinks is going to protect us from corporate greed.

HA. You couldn't write better satire.

The only solution is moral and legal equality.

      End the state.

    • Dave Peterson

Hi, If you're tempted to install that Firefox Addon called illimitux to allow full viewing over the time limit
      DO NOT
Just read the reviews at mozilla
      EVERYBODY HATES IT

    • The Tay

yah, you are right dave. it doesnt actually work. it still freezes at normal megavideo stop times, and then you have to reload it. if you messs with it enough it can buy you a few more minutes, but its not worth it. just wait the hour.

    • Keith

Mr. Moore certainly overdoes the drama a bit here and there, like acting as if he really expected to be admitted into corporate headquarters and such. Nonetheless, I think his heart is in the right place, and like some other comments said, people can toss him in a certain category and just carte blanche discredit him, but what about the pretty solid and frightening conclusions he presents? They're pretty dead-on I think. As far as the notion that his lack of a solution
somehow discredits the film…art (and documentary is an art form) at its best sometimes just asks the right questions…it gives it's audience some credit and perhaps implies that we ought to get off our asses, get pissed off, get out in the street, get revolutionary, support worker sit-ins, get invested in our political processes, etc….none of us have the prescience to come up with some massive and complex plan or alternative, but we do have a sense of what is right and wrong. If we would respond strongly to that innate sense on behalf of ourselves and of others the changes will emerge. The first step is probably toppling the powerful and corrupt and criminal elite. I wish there were a way to pull off a scenario like the end of Fight Club – but without violence or bodily harm. I can dream anyway.

    • Frank

      @Tay

Or you could simply open a new browser and directly scroll to the time of the video where you left of, has always worked for me.

      Cheers!

    • The Tay

fair enough frank, i might give it a try.

Someone here once perfectly dubbed MV – 'MEGANNOYING' – quite possibly the one thing that each and every person on this site can agree with !!

When a video exceeds the time limit I tell myself I'll just come back and finish it later – and then, I usually don't. Now, at this point I have a hard enough time keeping track of which ones I've seen at all, let alone which ones I haven't finished.

I have yet to find a Megavid work-around suggestion that actually proves to work for me.

DL – don't they teach you how to do those devious kind of tricks at school? (haha JK w/ya)

    • Robbyou

The megavideo fix is to get a membership if you dont like the terms of the free 72 mins. I am telling you it is worth it, I played the frustraited game of dealing with limits, now i enjoy them all! On a side note, Megavideo works with sites more than this one alone

    • M H

      Some interesting comments there.

Just wanted to point something out to all the people complaining of MV stoppage. You can generally defeat by using one of these techniques:-

One: delete any cookies received from MV and set your browser to not accept these cookies.

Two: allow the video to load till the end. Click ‘Work Offline’ on your browser options, and this should allow you to watch the entire video from beginning to end without interruption.

Three: download TOR or a similar onion routing device. Each time you run into problems watching a vid, simply close all browsers, and select the ‘change IP/find new identity’ option on the valida control panel. Go to your history, pull up the vid, and skip to where you left off.

Not sure if this works for everyone, but they work a treat for me. Give ‘em a go.
