Global Warming Doomsday Called Off
A very informative documentary about the possibility of other causes of global warming. It discuss the possibility that CO2 may not be a cause of global warming at all. Also take a look at the Great Global Warming Swindle and Green House Conspiracy in google video. This documentary discusses many topics that are not covered in the Swindle such as the hockey stick graph, from the viewpoint of Willie Soon and Sallie Baliunas.

I believe that you meant to say "anthropogenic" when saying "anthropomorphic" which is almost the same in meaning as "personified". Anyway, I think it should be pointed out that bad science can exist in many ways that seem very appealing to the layperson, for instance Intelligent Design, which is very transparent as a fraud to those who are scientifically literate, but still gathers a following of very many people. The same applies to many of those who state cases against anthropogenic climate change, as well as perhaps some of those who present cases for it. I do know that there are a few scientist out there who are still skeptical of the human effect, or the danger implied by the current model, however a very large scientific majority in those who are experts in the field being discussed is certainly nothing to scoff at. Really at this point when the popular literature is being so overly muddied by political posturing, the only real way to search for truth involves a lot of very in depth study on the subject itself, reading from the actual scientific literature (real-deal peer-reviewed papers), and checking the methodology of the work that has provided the model that is currently held. Only then could you really have the right to truly hold yourself in a tenable position of doubt against the scientific majority.

I'm inclined to take the side of actual observations over a computer model. Governments seem much too eager to rely on new technology when it offers another way to lower our disposable income.
reply | permalinkI do believe that we should move away from the disposable lifestyle we have and conserve natural resources. However, I also believe that the public is being manipulated in this matter and not for our benefit!

I hope a lot of people watch this. I've been researching climate change on my own for the last 10 years, and agree with about 90% of this. Is polluting the earth bad....yes, should we find better ways to create energy....yes, is recycling and conserving water and bla bla bla the right thing to do......of course it is. But are we the main cause for the planet heating up....no. How egotistical are we, I mean really. I honestly think a lot of this has to do with people not willing to accept the idea that things change, and more specifically have changed and will continue doing so. Cause if God created this planet just for you, and now it's somewhat different than it used to be it must be you're fault. Repent and recycle a milk jug.......now you'll get in to heaven. Basically what I'm trying to say is don't do whats good for the planet because you want to be cool, or because you feel guilty, or feel like a sinner, or because your ego is so overinflated that you think you can change the world. Do it cause it makes sense and it's the right thing to do.
reply | permalinkBack to this doc. Anyone who looks at all the info from both sides of this issue has to see the truth, unless they're an idiot or their brain has some sort of chemical imbalance the inhibits rational. The planet is definitely warming up and I'm glad it has, we would be screwed if it didn't. And if it gets too high we'll also be screwed. I'll leave it at that.

Interesting. This video is great, because it shows how we ought to question our scientific discoveries and theories, no matter how widely accepted.
reply | permalinkAlthough, I still think it goes without saying that we ought to decrease our pollution of the earth. Just because our actions are not significantly affecting the climate doesnt mean they're not harmful to the global environment.

I think I will agree to your point, however, the question is not what matters to me but about what should be done. This video may not be absolutely true, however, the possibility of being true, questions the authenticity of many of our belief that have formed over the years because of science.

Research isn't about who has absolute truth. It's about forming ideas then testing those ideas...and there will ALWAYS be contradictory evidence. The mark of a good researcher is that he surveys the available evidence and makes new, testable hypotheses based on that evidence. The goal of the non-researcher (supposedly yourself) would be to survey the available evidence and decide what you, yourself believe. It is ok if your conclusion is: "there is not enough evidence for me to make a judgment".
reply | permalinkMy advice to you would be not to wholly form your belief on one singular sensationalist popular science video.
If researchers can contradict one another, then whom do we believe. For so long I believed that global warming was at so rapid rate that our children may suffer from many air borne diseases, however, researchers in this video say that it is not at an alarming rate....so do we continue to so what we do?????????

Sanity is a wonderful thing, harder to have When so much of the media is owned by so few, commercial and political forces blending presenting an unchallenged unbalanced dictate by special interest. Thank you for real science, honest input allowing myself and others data to reason with, you represent to apex the true potential of what it can mean to behuman, and humane.

reply | permalinkodds are Simon worships Alex Jones....
but yes, as for the documentary itself, I'm really glad to have a CBC perspective on Global Warming.... for this reason, I knew that pertinent questions would be brought up. At first I was somewhat skeptical to watch this, but after seeing it, I'm happy to have learned a few things. Like Adrian said, facts are facts... This simon guy seems to be shifting the goal post every time he says something.... which I guess puts him on par with Gore's 'Inconvenient Truth'.

Also, in addendum, I didn't call you a nazi, there were PLENTY of American eugenics followers like Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt

Simon, you keep saying that not believing in Anthropomorphic Global Warming is anti-science, it's not anti-science... it's looking over all the facts and making a judgement call, which is called science...
reply | permalinkScience (from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge" or "knowing") is the effort to discover, and increase human understanding of how the physical world works. ...
- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science
eugenics was a pseudoscience, but it was used to make policies throughout the world...
and now we have Global Warming, which includes many of those who believed in Global Cooling(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling)
Just because you believe something, doesn't make it right, you need to look at the facts...

Wow, Adrian - way to make yourself look like an angry little 5 year old!
reply | permalinkEugenics?
SHEESH!
Yep, I really am a fool.
I had no idea that I would be compared to a nazi when pointing out that anti-science has no place in a scientific discussion.
And you actually believe that Eugenics was a science? WOW!

"Judgement Day- Intellegent Design on Trial" is a great film that you guys might enjoy. Shows some pretty compelling evidence in favour of evolution, in regards specifically to the "evolution vs. intellegent design" debate that a particular school board battled out in a court room.
reply | permalinkIf you don't agree with evolution, all the more reason to watch this film. Might not change your mind on the issue, but at the very least, you will be informed about what ideas are out there.

As the person who suggested this documentary, I would like to state for the record that I support the theory of evolution. I feel that to maintain a viable and intelligent view on issues such as global warming (as well as evolution) I need to routinely consider things from a new perspective.
reply | permalinkI'm sorry you don't feel that way.

Simon, you're truly a fool. How long has the planet survived before humans? The temperature has been varying for how many years? Are humans having an impact? Yes, but so is everything else. Before you go on a rant about how global warming denial is the same as denying evolution. Do you even know how much carbon dioxide is in our atmosphere?
reply | permalinkMaybe you should look into eugenics(another politicized science) and apply it to yourself
I love your "I'm right about everything even when disagreed with" mentality. Keep spitting out the lies from An Inconvenient Truth, please... Oh, and mention consensus, because the world being flat was a consensus too... Truth is not democratic..
Thanks and get your facts straight

This kind of thing reminds me of obese people saying that the main cause for obesity isn't over eating: it's just a disorder!
reply | permalinkSure it's a disorder(I understand it is in a VERY few cases) - of the brain, promoting denial so you can go on sabotaging healthy living.
And in this case: the healthy living of every living being on this planet for the foreseeable future.
People that believe this may as well also deny evolution, stop using their computers, deny themselves modern health care, and go back to the dark ages - all technology has come to us from the same place that highlights our environment issues, and the reality of evolution.
I have no problem with folk denying reality - but go do it without affecting our ability to save ourselves.
Remember: You have the rapture. We don't!
