Preceding their previous successes, reporter Saira Shah and filmmaker James Miller set out on a dangerous adventure. They had achieved greatness with their previous films Beneath the Veil and Unholy War, both winning Peabody Awards. And so, the pair decided to embark on horrifying journey to the Middle East to examine closely the widespread hate throughout the culture.

The had caught on film a first-hand look of three Palestinian children’s lives growing up in the dangers stress of Gaza and had planned to feature the Israeli side next. Tragically during filming, Miller was killed by an Israeli tank on May 2. He had become a victim to the war in which he was covering.

The amazing documentary Death in Gaza reveals this tragic story. It begins in Nables where the pair see a horrific explosion, killing many Palestinians who were thought to be suicide bombers. It features an unbiased look into the lives of the people residing in Gaza. The lives of people who are forced to struggle daily with the day-to-day issues of living in a deathly war zone.

Death in Gaza is unique for many reasons. In this documentary, cameras manage to gain access to areas in which have never been revealed before.

A very tragic situation between these countries. I don't understand using children for their cause, children are too young to truly understand what they are getting into. It is glorified by the militants, making the children feeling their special if they die. This is a war that will not end for at least 100 years. It is a sad existence for these people. I can only hope that the younger generations get tired of war.

Spend 1 hour in Gaza and you will understand why they would use children. It is a coward's way, but for them, sadly, the only way. Notice, rocks vs tanks… what else would you like them to use? laser guided rockets? night vision? they have but home made bombs, rifles, and rocks

A sad and beautiful film. I see that much of the coverage of the recent Israeli incursion into Gaza avoided engaging the massive suffering of Palestinian civilians. I am shocked to read and hear so many bloodthirsty positions. Also going almost totally unmentioned in recent coverage is the religious extremism of many Israelis and their politicians which is carefully hidden away, but fully equivalent to the opinions voiced by the Palestinian children in this film. While these Palestinian children call the Israelis dogs and donkeys, many Israelis feel that thier historic destiny is to live in a Greater Israel encompassing virtually all of Lebanon and portions of the surrounding arab states which does much to explain their lack of success in peacemaking. It takes two superstitious and delusional adversaries to fight such a hideous and prolonged struggle.
