Imagine a world without Internet? It’s a service in which many of us use on a daily basis. As I write about this documentary I turn to the Internet for resources. When you watch this documentary, it will probably be via the Internet. But, how did the Internet become what it is today? Where did it come from and who was behind it? Download: The True Story of the Internet takes us to where it all began. It examines of technology has advanced to the monstrosity of what it is today.

Featuring interviews from the men and women who made it all possible, this a must-see documentary for anyone interested in the Internet. This film features the fascinating stories of how in a time-span of ten years, the Internet has managed to take over our lives. The Founders of Yahoo, Netscape, Google, eBay and many other key Internet players share their story.

With first-hand account from the people that matter, this film tells the story in an exciting way. It doesn’t shy away from the shady details of back-stabbing, battles, moments of hilarity and of course the genius moments. Hosted by John Heileman, this is an in-depth look into how these 20-year -olds became billionaires overnight.

Note: This video requires you to download Veoh Player. If you don’t want to download this you might want to try the firefox addon called Illimitux. I’ve put up some instructions on the FAQ page. Hope it works out…

From that field trip to ames research center I took as a 5th grader in 1968 I witness the computer shrink from the size of 100,000 square ft warehouse to the size of a Iphone which has more processing power then that huge computer at ames( thanks to robert noyce, jack kilby and gordon moore and many other great engineers) then witnessing in mountain view the launch of netscape and the internet.Seeing the explosive growth of yahoo, google,my space, facebook and many others. I feel empowered personally by this technology and forever grateful to those engineers and pioneers for giving me freedom at last! The internet has truly freed all of us from the bounds of "gravity". We have only begun our journey and we are only limited by our own imaginations and creativity.

I really enjoyed the documentary and like the fact that the internet has a business model. With an ever changing reliance on the internet as an information source, commerce source, and general leisure time source more and more people are expanding their knowledge into creating something of their own. Whether it's a site about music, sports, movies, etc… there are advertising contracts for almost type of information you are able to present. The idea that the average person could become an enterprenuer over night as a result of devloping a internet business model allows us to fill the gap for those who may lack the necessary skills to take the average business idea to the next level. At the same time this leaves an opening for those with internet experience to research business model development and harness the potential of the World Wide Web to its fullest extent.
