The most closely documented war ever fought in history has been that of the invasion of Iraq. It lasted only 800 hours, but roughly 20,000 hours of footage was created from it. Enemy Image examines how those several hours of video were tightly controlled and created an unchanging view of combat sanitized and governed by the Pentagon.

This documentary released in 2005 and created by Mark Daniels showcases how television news portrays warfare. Starting with the violent Vietnam War, it focuses on how it was the first war televised “live”. Reporters were given access by the American government to report on this war with very little supervision or restrictions.

Enemy Image features how the American government learned from allowing journalists unrestricted access. The Pentagon controlled their access to other wars like the Invasion of Grenada, where journalists were completely excluded to the first Gulf War. During the Iraq war, the military provided news packages to the embedded journalists.

The purpose of this film is to showcase the progressive tight restrictions that have been placed on the contact journalists have with both civilians and soldiers in war zones.  Jones displays footage of the Vietnam war and then compares it to that of the Iraq war to revealed the truth behind war is increasingly being hidden.

Sadly the same cannot be said for most of the country.

If that were the case, the USA (and indeed the world) would have been spared an extra 4 years of the Bush regime's madness.

      Freedom Fries. Oy. *shakes head*

Quoting newspapers articles? really? The footage was good but the narrator is going to need some better sources if he really wants to drive his agenda home.
