This not your average documentary as Dr. Brian Cox takes viewers on a breathtaking voyage through the history of particle physics. In Search of Giants if a special documentary in which Dr. Cox attempts make the sometimes confusing quantum world and particle physics a little more comprehensible for everyone watching.In Search of Giants takes viewers a on fascinating adventure through the origin of atomic and nuclear physics.Throughout the film we discover that the Greeks were actually aware of atoms much earlier than we had originally thought. Dr. Cox uncovers how Mendeleyev’s periodic table was one of the many first clues that the atom really had a much deeper structure. The fascinating story of how J.J. Thomson discovered the first subatomic particle, the electron is also examined during the documentary.Viewers are also given an opportunity to witness Ernest Rutherford’s legendary ground-breaking experiment. It was this experiment that uncovered how most of the mass of an atom is actually concentrated in a tiny nucleus made of protons and neutrons, this was discovered in 1937. Lastly viewers discover how Murray Gell-Mann anticipated the existence of quarks and much more. By using impressive imagery, In Search of Giants is a great documentary for anyone to watch.
