Garry Kasparov is arguably the greatest chess player who has ever lived. In 1997 he played a chess match against IBM’s computer Deep Blue. Kasparov lost the match. This film shows the match and the events surrounding it from Kasparov‘s perspective. It delves into the psychological aspects of the game, paranoia surrounding it and suspicions that have arisen around IBM’s true tactics. It consists of interviews with Kasparov, his manager, chess experts, and members of the IBM Deep Blue team, as well as original footage of the match itself.

this docu… was 1h 24 minutes and 58 seconds to long, I like that game but this was nothing interesting,
could have done the documentary in 10 mints……

For shame on IBM!! Its a sad analogue on how lots of American business's work. Seen this kind of double talking, cheating and un-ethical behavior before. Isnt this what crashed the economy?

      Great documentary, thank you.

I agree, the whispering narrator was really annoying, I had to fast forward through all of his parts

Funny thing is how a Russian master mind -through some chess games and a few dollars- may have helped out the super-computer makers to set up code which could be used to take decisions in warfare. The brass was looking for such computers+software since the Vietnam war (Rand Corp and other working on behalf of the Pentagon). This is what I call real-world-game-theory at a good level. Garry: they got you ;-)

      Cheers!

      excellent, very interesting.
      Kasparov is still the best.
The bald-headed guy white guy from the deep blue team who is interviewed throughout is a bastard.
