      In hopes of being declared one of France’s Kings of Pastry sixteen French chefs gather in Lyon for 3 intense days of  mixing, piping and sculpting everything from delicate chocolates to six-foot sugar sculptures in.   This is the prestigious Meilleurs Ouvriers de France competition (Best Craftsmen in France).   Follow along as these sculptors of fragile sugary creations compete and work under constant scrutiny to have their final entries evaluated & criticized by some of the world’s most renowned chefs in this high-stakes drama of  their the quest to become one of the Kings of Pastry.




      The collar awarded to the winners of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman in France) is more than the ultimate recognition for every pastry chef – it is a dream and an obsession. The 3-day competition includes everything from delicate chocolates to precarious six foot sugar sculptures and requires that the chefs have extraordinary skill, nerves of steel and luck. The film follows Jacquy Pfeiffer, founder of The French Pastry School in Chicago, as he returns to France to compete against 15 of France’s leading pastry chefs. The filmmakers were given first time/exclusive access to this high-stakes drama of passion, sacrifice, disappointment and joy in the quest to have President Sarkozy declare them one of the best in France.       To anyone wondering why the hostility – it’ll cut you off at 72 minutes and claim you need to come back in 54 minutes to watch the rest of the movie or ‘click here’ to find out how you can watch unlimited. I feel jipped! *lol*

      could have done with english subtitles; my norsk is a bit rusty. so since i only understood a fraction of the movie really, i think they should have waived the “wait 54 minutes to see the last 12 minutes.” in my book, that isn’t how you conduct honest business and i guess it needs saying that dishonesty or even trickery won’t win my custom. think about it, Doc-log….
