Directed by James Marsh, this British documentary Man on Wire showcases Philippe Petit’s high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Center. Based on the book, To Reach the Clouds written by Petit this is a fascinating and riveting film.

The title of the film originates from the police report that led to Petit’s arrest and later release. This risky walk lasted for almost an hour. Man on Wire is put together like a heist film as it features rare footage of the preparations of the risky walk, some of which was never before seen prior to the release of the film. It also features still photographs and extraordinary reenactments. Paul McGill plays the young Petit in the film.

Man on Wire features modern-day interviews with the people who participated in this epic walk. In 2008 the film competed in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. It was there that it won the Grand Jury Prize, the World Cinema Documentary and the World Cinema Audience Award: Documentary. Step higher than you could ever have imagined with Petit as he crosses between the Twin Towers in this extraordinary and fascinating documentary Man on Wire.

This is a great documentary, however…

For the ones whose French is not completely up to par, brace yourselves; a large chunk of this film contains the language of the loved. Secondly, as this is uploaded to Megavideo, your video will stop playing after 72 minutes after which you have 2 options: either pay up, or wait a 52 agonizing minutes for it to continue.

I still don't understand how Megavideo can operate in a market with an increasing number of other servers offering similar services for free.

However, if you can overcome the above glitches… it's a great documentary.

Okay, now what shall I do for the remaining 51 minutes…
