Monarchy

Dr. David Starkey, a British historian and an academic, presents a closer look into the English Monarchy and goes through ten centuries of rulers in England.
The series stars off with the Fall of The Roman Empire and ends with the Death of Queen Victoria and the present monarchy.
The documentary is presented in a dramatic depiction of how these rulers led in the past. It illuminates the intrigues and treachery that happened in the kingdom, particularly in the earlier centuries and it also outlines how the crown was handed down (or taken) from one ruler to the next.
The documentary is presented in actual order in history and profiles each of the ruler that wore the crown. Dr. Starkey masterfully ties each of their profiles in one unifying theme in his presentation,
The British Monarchy has long been a fascination for many. It’s a long standing institution that was necessary at the time it was first created to withstand threats. However, its tradition are now outdated and there is tension between how the monarchy should survive in these modern times, versus its actual functions in the today.
