Do you know that  there are real estate companies are offering properties you can buy…on the surface of the moon? And that there are actually people who have been convinced to buy into this?

For nearly five decades after man first landed on the moon, some enterprising people are planning to go there, not to visit or do scientific research, but to actually stay.

Why are there people determined to sell properties on the moon, when there are international treaties that say the moon is not owned by any nation and it is for all mankind?

Scientists think that, as with any other investment in properties, there is also potential in making big money for investments on the moon. Deep in the moon’s surface are rocks that apparently contain Helium-3 deposits, which, according to their research, is almost inexhaustible and is actually a source of pollution free energy for Earth.

The race now is not to whoever gets to land on the man, but whoever gets to these deposits first and help solve the energy crisis.

But, is this exploration and exploitation a good thing for the world?

This documentary outlines the pros and cons of man’s latest moon explorations.

Stuff like this makes it far too evident as to what a destructive species mankind is. If people go on to mine the moon, you know it won't end there. We'll just keep going, trashing planets as we go.

Fascinating documentary. I've always wanted to go to space but I doubt I will ever afford it. If I would eventually afford it, it would probably have become so common that it has lost some of its appeal.

It's interesting how the documentary portrait the other participants in the moon race (asia, europe etc.) with dramatic music and almost threatening words, as if to imply that if NASA isn't first, we're all doomed. That's ridiculous of course but may act as an emotional effect to trigger Americans' interest.

I do hope that there will be a union between nations to share lunar knowledge and resources, but that wouldn't benefit private interests. I wouldn't want to see a lunar war (or cold war) where nations or companies fight for control of the moon and all its secrets.
