Natural World: Farm for the Future
Presented by Rebecca Hosking, a wildlife filmmaker, thsi documentary is an exploration into how Hosking can tranform their Devon family farm into something more eco-friendly, or low-energy. What she learns are actually what has been readily available and provided for by nature.
Discovering how much fuel cost has risen in just a year, affecting food production and depleting the earth of its natural resources, Rebecca thought it was time to take action and find supplies that will secure her and her family.
She embarks on this project with her father, who is already close to retirement, and seeks help from other farmers and other growers.
The filmmaker visits small farms which remain rather productive for over two decades, despite the rising cost to maintain this. The farm was like its mini-rain forest where the owners manage animals and vegetables with expertise. What used to be a worn-out land, has been turned into this efficient, sustainable area where cattles are fed the very same food that grows on the farm, and where trees provide not only nourishment, but shade and coolness, as well as nitrogen.
This documentary is such an eye-opener and really helpful to anyone who wants to live a sustainable life.
