      In the southern islands of Japan, among the tropical trees and coral reefs, lies Amami Oshima, which is a thriving eco-system where the black Amami rabbit is found. This creature is also called the “living fossil” and is one of the the island’s most endemic occupant.

      Amami Oshima is also home to the long-haired rat, whose main habitat is the tropical trees. The island is also known for having this picturesque, beautiful fogs known as the Ishikawa.

      This documentary is hosted by Futoshi Hamada, a photographer who has been documenting the island and its wonderful flora and fauna for the last 25 years.
