New Worlds is part of a documentary series entitled “Space”. It’s the fifth episode in a six-part series, and was presented on August of 2001 by the BBC. In the United States, the documentary carried the title “Hyperspace”. The series is hosted by Sam Neill.

In this episode, the documentary covers our quest for other life forms in other planets of the the solar system, and maybe way beyond our space. Could humans be able to live in another location when the Sun affects Earth’s deterioration and starts to burn life from it? Will the Sun also be destroyed?

This is a look into what scientists say could happen in the future.

Sorry but this documentary doesn't cover 5% of the obstacles we would have to overcome to settle on mars, europa of any other planet/moon. What about cosmic and solar radiation ? There is no way we could ever adapt to it. Nor could any other form of plant or animal. The earth is habitable because of its strong magnetic field and its ozon layer.. These are incredbly difficult to create artifically if not impossible. Terraforming is a theoretical possibilty which is nearly impossible to do practically.. the timescale they give (30-50 years or so to make mars a second earth) is absolutly ridiculous.. this is no scientific documentary, its meant for entertainment only – don't take it too seriously…
