The world of science was distrupted a few years back, when, in 2002, Rusi Taleyarkhan claimed that he was wable to create nuclear fusion in his laboratory using just sound waves.

Dubbed as the most difficult branch of science to understand and process, nuclear fusion is believed to provide the answers to all of the world’s energy problem. The princile to this holds that there is enough fuel source to provide the world free energy for several years. In order for this to happen though, atoms must repeatedly slam onto each other and to be able to do this requires heat as high as the Sun’s core, which would have been impossible to do in a laboraty. Scientist believed that to prove the theories of nuclear fusion would require millions of money and a solid support between governments.

Was Taleyarkhan’s claims true? Or was it just sonoluminescence, another process that few scientists care to understand. Sonoluminescence is also called star in a jar and it produces flashes of light through sound waves, much like what Taleyarkhan has achieved. How did Taleyarkhan or this prove his claims? And what have other scientists done to also learn about nuclear fusion?

There was also Robert Bussard doing some low budget garage-style fusion work, he gave a talk at Google in 2006:

This talk is more of a research report than a documentary but it is quite interesting. I have a soft spot for scientists and engineers that get their hands dirty, Bussard is in the same class as the people that made the Apollo program work.

I do not believe the experiment replicated by britishers. Rusi spends years in perfection and then he made this discovery. These brisher dudes even fail to convince person like me.
