Presented by Alexandra Pelosi, this documentary follows the rising of what is known as the Tea Party Movement, which is composed of some members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate and many of them come from the Republican Party. There is no real leader in this movement, and the group agrees that they are both conservative and libertarian in their policies. They are also credited for reviving grassroots politics. It also puts into focus the reaction of conservative Americans when the Democratic party, headed by Obama, won the 2008 elections.

Pelosi delves into the history of how this movement came to be and the number of issues that arise where they feels so strongly for (or against). The writer and journalist is a Democrat who has had her work criticized because of the seemingly slated views.

This documentary aired on HBO in 2009. But after this, Pelosi has said that she was done making documentaries about politics.

This makes me feel all icky and hateful… weird how it's even contagious in reverse.

I'd just like to say that there are many, many Southerners who voted for Barack Obama and are more educated on the issues than some of these who spoke in this program. I still see a lot of bumper stickers on the road that say "Texans for Obama" and I'm proud of that. I am saddened that the Southern stereotype is probably reinforced for many who watch this.

I myself am from Tennessee, and I love to see cars with Obama stickers (unless they cut me off). Though TN went red, I'm still proud to have voted for Obama!

By the way I would like to inform the public at large: The security code for this comment was "STFU"

    • Marie

Are these people really that stupid.
Bush was in with bin laden. They need to do their reseach before they start making any comments on who was in with Terroist.
The reason our county is in the shape it is. Is because of stupid people like this.

    • a darkie

so now that the tables have been somewhat, slightly, turned…………….how does it feel ?

I am very grateful that I was able to watch this documentary, Right America Feeling Wronged. I disagree with everything in it, but for the first time I saw how much these people are hurting. They're afraid of losing their way of life. They're afraid of terrorists. They're afraid that God will be unhappy if Obama is President. I felt real compassion for their pain. But also, as I listened to the things they were afraid of, I recognized so many lies that have been proven over and over to be lies and yet the GOP and it's helpers have repeated them over and over with the result that some really good people are fearful for themselves and for their country because they believed the lies and the hype. And that is a real shame. Barack Obama talks with Jesus every day. When he reads a holy book, it's the Bible. He believes that the Constitution guarantees each of us the right to bear arms. He didn't want to wear the flag pin because he loves the flag and he'd seen too many people wear the pin to win votes while doing things in private to hurt America. He started wearing it because it was hurting people that he didn't, but he always loved America. His mother taught him how important it was to stand for America by getting him out of bed at 4:30 am to study about America when he lived in another country as an eight year old. I wish these people knew the truth because it would ease their pain. We can disagree about some things without being in such pain.

they go on about there being so many idiots in america, THEY CANT EVEN SPELL SOCIALISM! the only way to save your precious little 'usa' is to fuck off the idea of republicanism entirely, i honestly do not understand how they dont see they are rediculous. all im saying is republicans are the single biggest downfall of america. i think the 'obama' regime is idiotic, but not half as bas as 'mccain'. stop trying to speak for 'god' and realize you are chasing a false dream, the only god is your precious tv. if you agree with republicans in america you seriously, seriously need your head examining.

    • DK McGreeb

and another thing, how can they harp on about 'all i can think of is the hitler youth' and go on about the similarities between hitler and obama. FASCISM AND LIBERALISM ARE TOTAL OPPOSITES! stop chatting shit about '666' and 'anti-christ' and do some research into REAL things, not things from a book, which BY THE WAY was translated by King Henry VIII of england to the extent he wished, making it show him as devine. you base all your views on lies, lies from my country centuries ago. the real terrorists here, the real enemies here are within america itself, they are the southern state half-wits that cant even spell the word they think opposes them. you are the real hitlers mccain supporters, not the obama supporters, youre just scared of a man with brown skin because youre scared he'll do to you what you did to his creed many years ago. after hearing the views of you idiots i actually wouldnt mind seeing white REPUBLICAN americans being FULLY enveloped in the slave trade, vice-versa of its' last revolution.

    • Maire

When this documentary began, it paraded out the worst of far right cliches, complete with trailers and beer. Although it progressed beyond that somewhat, it was never able to rise above the seedy sensationalism of racist, stars and bars-toting rednecks. The fact that it was produced by Pelosi's daughter would already make it suspect to begin with, and you walk away feeling your prejudice about leftist media confirmed, which is unfortunate.

    • Anon

I found it funny how a lot of people griped about the liberal media, when one of the US' biggest news stations is Fox, which pushes a Republican agenda. They all claim that Obama's going to socialise the country but they don't really seem to have any real idea of what socialism is. And btw Arnie, Europe isn't socialist, I live there and I know!

    • Anon

These people are honestly sad. I feel almost sorry for them, because they are working themselves up into such a frenzy for party leaders who don't care about them at all. And then these racists pop up and make me lose any empathy I had for them. These people need to realize that it is 2009, not 1809, not 1889, not 1920, and not 1955. Those views were detestable back then, today the are simply unacceptable. We as a country are better than this.

Also, Obama is nowhere near a socialist. Obama isn't even a real liberal. There hasn't been a true liberal President in America since Lyndon Johnson and FDR.

    • james

I think hussein obama is what we call a "submarine" but people who voted for him are just the new generation of dumbos politically correct who cannot think by themself but follow what they have been told by tv singers, actors also lots of crackhead voted for hussein thinking they will have more free monney from social help for their cracks, but the futur will tell them what is the results of their votes, in this case and from my point of view the majority of americans who voted for hussein obama are really the most dumbo people of this planet, other americans who voted else are surely less stupid than hussein obama supporter. futur will tell us who was right !

    • lennon

your the dumb one!you try to predict the future, but refuse to look at your past!!give obama,a term in office, and see if americas a safer place.stop your empire building, get out of other people land, and maybe just maybe you might see that america is the cause of many problems in the world, especially the middle east, and that the world wants to love america but ,americas polocies over the years have been opressing, other nations, both democrats and republicans, give the man a chance, you dont like what he do,then get rid of him in four years time.

    • lennon

it gets on my nerves, when people bring god into politics, men makes these decisions, not god!god is not responsable, for the way americas feeling, its their leaders who are doing it to them, stop following the parties and read about their polocies, and dont get your views from fox news and cnn alone, use all the media available too you and be brave and make your OWN mind up,after all americas the land of the brave, not the land of the sheep…………..

    • Rob M

Did you not read the disclaimer in the beginning, stating that these people are not representative of all Republicans? Fact is, this doc didn't need to be made to show the rest of the American population what is so pervasive w/ southern Republicans. That was made clearly evident through their own behavior throughout the campaign, and subsequent townhalls, the Presidential address to Congress, etc. If anything, the Republicans leaders should take this as a wake up call that the rest of the country, and particularly Independents such as myself, do not and will not associate with this type of rhetoric and misinformation.

    • Rob M

"…the majority of americans who voted for hussein obama are really the most dumbo people of this planet…"

^^THAT is your typical Republican voter…

    • Dan Rayson

The problem with Democracy is no one who is allowed to vote is actually an expert on politics.

      eh? eh? eh?

    • Spiff

The real problem with democracy is that it doesn't exist in your country, my country, or any country. If you had a real democracy, there would be dozens or hundreds of political parties. Not two parties, both consisting of preselected presidential candidates.

    • allisson

I hope obama doesnt open our borders…how easy would that make it for terrorists and rapists? were over populated and he wants to welcome foregners in???? ha ha no

    • mac

      hey allisson,

İ dont know if you were being sarcastic… but if you were; you were right on, if not; you are a great example of how miserable and dumb an everyday American is :))

The foreigners; they are either terorist or rapist????

      ha ha ha

    • Jack Kebek

Allison, I totally agree with you!!!
We should all move back to the old countries where all of our rapingterrorist ancestors come from and give back America to the true "Native Americans".

    • allisson

My comment was my opinion. I may not word things correctly, or even to a understandable level but all im saying is opening borders opens the doors to alot more then simply immigrants. Im not racist, im english irish and spanish-quite the mix! Its just after 9-11 we can see how easy it is to devastate and hurt a country. BOX CUTTERS? yeah, not to hard. And yeah jack i agree with you. We did come to this land and take it. England and france were famous for land theft. NOt to mention the horrible treatment of those whos land our ancestors took. We have skellitons in our closets as a nation. We should be thankful we still have america* we sure did earn it! lol
mac, i wasnt and was being sarcastic. Opening a border opens the possibilities of more crime/drugs/murder/rape/theft and so on. We have enough people here in need of jobs and homes why bring more? i respect you. please know this.

    • mac

      hey again allison,

i can understand what you mean a little better now, thanks for the reply. and i probably was a li'l too much aggressive, sorry if i was offensive.

but still (there's always a "but" right? :)
America is one of the most violent countries out there, and the american love of guns, and agression etc… is well known. Yet when talking about foreigners the first thing an american thinks about is terrorists and rapists.

I must say I agree with you on some level. I think american borders should be closed. and americans should not be let outside of america. That would be a much much safer world.

and you guys would be very safe and happy there :)))

      peace

Appears like many U.S citizens have no grasp of why they lost all their investments because their educational institutions never taught them the history of money. If they only knew that the Federal reserve is privately owned taking a trillion dollars a year of in interest without putting anything on the line. (no gold standard) Oh well, keep watching Fox news and die broke in ignorance!

    • Jack Kebek

      Hello Allisson
      I get your point, but…
As most often, reality is gray and blurry. One example of this situation are farm workers. Very few ummm.."regular" Americans, Canadians, or Quebecers for that matter, just wont go working 12 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week, painstakingly picking up fruits or vegetables out in an open field, under a raging sun.
Not to mention the farm owners very much like to pay low wages, because we all like to pay less when we go do our groceries. Shortly put, there is a real economic need for… "imported farm workers" if I may put it bluntly.

There are no simple answers, but there's a ton of politicians and there lill helpers and followers trying to capitalize as many votes as possible on this issue. And since "negative press" sells much better, and fear is an effective "herd steerer" they only show us the ugly side till we get dizzied with insecurity, and lose our judgment.

And yes, I often feel very sad for the "True Natives". Do you know how most of them think owing land is the silliest thing they ever encountered? What next, we gonna have to own the air? Or, how can you own water? It evaporates!!!

      Ya all take care eh

    • allisson

mac i agree. Our gun loving has gotten us alot of trouble. No one wants to admit it, until they are affected by guns personally. We could trade citizens. send away the prisoners, bring in some workers? i think thats a good idea.

    • allisson

REALITY CHECK- my father lost soooooo much money in stock in the past 6 years its sad. Hes a painter-worker by trade-who made his way up and then decided to test out the stocks. Then he lost alot. Then my step moms insurance company went down. along with its stocks. We are informed, some of us prepared. Give the 10% some credit. thank you : )

    • allisson

The Southern white man is shakin in his boots. Those cheap black workers in the past are getting a voice. I think the south is 10 years morally behind. and half my family is there!

    • Jack Kebek

HO HO HO > I'm from the Great White North.
Geographically speaking, I'm quite close to Santa (in a few weeks, we'll hear him HO!HO!HO!'ing the far…) and that gives me a different point of vue. From waayy up here, here's is what I see without a "Fox" speaking to me.
Politically speaking, About that "American Extreme right" group :
      - It seems it proportionally has too much voicing, since what we see here on our TV screens (and on many European TV news was I told) is just all about that group. According to "my North Anerican French speaking culture", they seem frighteningly aggressive, and way too "extreme" when comparing their point of vue on what society "should be" to ours.
      - If we would have never heard of em, we believe there would be much less anti-Americanism in our countries. To us, they are the "Drama Queens" of American politics ; which I admit, is very sad to say.

I'm not saying our politicians are better, they're just different. Here, democracy is now also spelled $emocracy. ;^(
This is mainly why the poor are getting poorer, and the rich are less and less in numbers, but they're getting a whole lot richer and richer.

      Thx for reading me

    • smoov-e

Obama liberal? pffff, hardly. while he talks a big game he is just as bad as bush except he is better at fooling everyone

    • medie

You know what i see from them? somehow i don't know why but they look like north korean communists. really. i'm not kidding. despite their idea and communists are on the opposite side, they're behavior and attitude are similar to communists. i'm from south korea and to me they all look like blind people who don't even try understand what's going on around the world and put themselves in others shoes. they're just stuck in there in south, yelling, 'we've been like this and we'll be like this forever' which means, they stopped thinking ever since they were born, never asking 'why'. it's interesting that american value i see like positive side of the culture is about enterprise and creativity. in sum, 'freedom of thinking!' but i guess some refused their proud value and not even notice what's going on to themselves. i guess it's part of human nature so i don't really blame them. i'm buddhist but i do not have reason to hate them, even though they hate me because i'm a different color and foreigner. ommanimamaeum

    • cj

your all missing the point here…. obama was put to place by wallstreet… and for wallstreet….. not for the average "joe"…..

cmon….9/11???? im a design engineer… its a controlled demolition…. frankly can a planecrash blow a building into ashes???

    • panamayuck

      Cj-

Apparently your really good at being a design engineer. Maybe you should read Popular Mechanics or just about the thousands of other research done at the site by independent researchers. Yes our leaders probably don't really care about your or my interests, but they are not Satin. If there was a cover-up, there would be so much leaked information. Reporters would love to get the inside scoop and the government is the worst when trying to keep things secret. Why don't you hear reporters talking about "Building 7". It's because they like their jobs, and that story has been so over dramatized by dumb asses who think they know exactly how a building should fall. Give me a break. Why is it so difficult to think some people in this world hate America and capitalism so much that they would give their life for it's destruction.

    • DK McGreeb

the guy that cries at the start, where i do agree with the obvious fact that hes closed minded and his general way of thinking ahould be worked against but i couldnt agree more with his point that the immigrants get the rights, we get nothing and get told to fuck off if we ask for help from the 'authorities', especially as someone living in england. we are not allowed to fly our countries flag from our houses windows anymore, like the actual flag of england, for fear of offending muslims. i have muslim friends they couldnt give a shit what flag we fly. terrible.

    • DK McGreeb

also the crying girl at the indoor rally thing is right and that crying man at the same shindig, they did vote the wrong guy, especially with war at interest. obama said he was going to take everyone out of afghanistan instantly, well i dont think you all need me to tell you what happened there lol. good going 'america'. good going federal reserve more like.

    • cj

      @ panamayuck

THOUSANDS OF INDEPENDENT RESEARCH????? i hope you can provide me links to that because ive only come across to a handful…. after 10 yrs of working as… even ACI aka "AMERICAN CONCRETE INSTITUE" disapproves the 9/11 findings…. oh yeah how about the dozens of universities including MIT not accepting the explanations by the government…. lets talk facts here people….. not the things you see on "TV"

    • Charlotte

Seriously no offence dude but I don't agree. I live in Leicester, England and every four years at the World Cup, England supporters fill local pubs and the streets chanting England songs, wearing England shirts, faces painted and holding flags. I've seen plenty of houses in the estates near me with England flags constantly hanging out of their windows. I also don't agree that immigrants get all of the benefits. I have an 'unspecified' muscular problem in my back that causes me chronic pain and I have real trouble getting diagnosed or listened to by the government, equally several of my immigrant friends (who have come to this country because OUR government sent flyers and adverts out to Poland saying "come to England" telling them they'd get benefits and jobs here, I'm sure you'd do the same as the Poles if you were from a poor country and your family were starving) also have equal if not more trouble getting benefits, jobs and an education because they're not British. In fact, most of them can speak better English than any 'chav' I know. I think you'd find both 'The Trap' by Adam Curtis and 'Taking Liberties' really really interesting, which are both on this site. They talk about how our system is crushing us (including our 'Big Brother' state) and how since Tony Blair has been in power, our civil liberties have been eroded. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did, nice to know your enemy!

    • (just a) F R O G on the LOG

I would also like to express objection to DKs comment: "obama said he was going to take everyone out of afghanistan instantly,". I would be interested to see the source from where this information has been drawn. Or perhaps hes just talking through his hat, as I often do. ;)

    • (just a) F R O G on the LOG

Correct title for film: "Interviews with the MOST R E T A R D E D PEOPLE in the UNITED STATES"!
How embarrassing that people of other countries should see this.

I'm sure the films editor should be worthy of an academy award.

charlotte, i have personally been told to take an england flag down, by the police ON MY DOORSTEP, twice during the last world cup. things may be all hunky dorey down in leicester but they sure arent where im from, or in london. i did watch taking liberties though and yes that was quite good, not seen the other but ill check it out thanks.

pamayuck it's not so easy to believe what you believe about 911, because there are too many suspicions surrounding 911. Building that have caught fire in other countriess have not fallen in rapid pancake succession from a fire that burns at such low temperatures like the twin towers. Building 7 fell the same way without any plane hitting it. The Bin Ladens were allowed to flee the country when all planes were supposed to be grounded, where was our multi-million dollar defense strategy when a plane supposedly pummeled the Pentagon?

    • Benji

After reading 'all' of your comments, I think I'll have to watch this now.

    • lennox

I sincerely hope that, the dumb hillbillies in the documentary turns out right, and we see the end of the us as soon as possible.

    • Robbyou

I am so happy to have Obama in the Whitehouse. It is always better when hope and optimism can win out over closeminded fearmongering. I wonder how many of the irate mccain supporters actually held up their threat to move out of the country? There is a reason the south is held as moronic in their support of misinformation and their confederate longings. It is because this country was built on the backs of slaves, not cristians. When you deny this you place yourself in a disadvantage. It shows that feelings are more improtant than facts to you. You should have every right to practice your religion, just not in school or in government. We have laws against it for a reason. Specifically when religion is brought into the discussion of state matters, Reason goes out the window. The disclaimer states that it may not be representitive of all republicans, and that may be true, however the republicans in this video are representitive of the ones I run into and cannot end an argument without bringing up religion, guns, or terrorism. FEAR FEAR FEAR. get enough of it and you begin to believe you can see Russia from your back porch

    • Truth

You 9-11 conspirators are all just slapping the faces of the surviving families. When you cite that the burning buildings fell in rapid succession as never seen before, you are right. The construction of the buildings with aluminum trusses off the central core is and was unique.
Pay attention to fact and reality instead of the stupidity promoted by the Loose Change idiots of the world.

    • Sylvo

Holy crap!!!!!!I thought that that rednecks were just a stereotype in media…it is freaking true..I mean the world is in "safe hands" with those people controlling nukes…and then Americans call others "extremist"…I think people in middle east are much more liberal than those……its like a village in 1800s..

    • Robbyou

One could not express properly the mindless regergitation of republican soundbites, nor the fearful nature of the sheepish followers, without a forum like this documentary. These republicans which were “not representitive” (yeah right) make the best argument against their cause. I would love to see an update to this Documentary, bringing into the discussion the healthcare package which was just passed. For some reason, my favorite parts of these documantaries is when the issues are so dividing that you end up with zealots essentially coming to blows. Verbally or physically. The fear and anger for anything outside their comfort zone negates their ability to listen to themselves talk. The child with the brown hair who thinks that if obama is elected we will “become soviet russia” can be forgiven for his uneducated views, the adults cannot. It was laughable to see the kids who are only interested in getting on their family or church bandwagon spout opinions that they could not possibly have come up with themselves, and thinking they think for themselves. It was sad to see the misguided Parents so vehemently agrue points they CLEARLY have not researched themselves. Parents who encorage this just endure their children to become one of the flock of sheeple.
The woman who went door to door for McCain wanted to get her word out, even stopping people in the street was so sure and corageous in her opinions and spouting them off to anyone within earshot. But when the “can I say this , Lesbian” couple next door had the ordacity to place an Obama sign on their own property, she didnt stop at their house because she “would want to start a fight with a neighbor”. If your views are so important to you, how about sticking to them. You do a disservice to your cause when wont discuss an issue because you think you know what the other side may have to say.
It does my heart well that even with all of the yelling and non truths, that the American people as well as our elected Government continue not ignore, but not agree with these ignorant and fearful requests from undereducated republican view holders

    • Robbyou

If your point had any validity, you wouldnt need to try to incite anger by calling the President by his middle and last name only, as if the name Hussein somehow makes referance to something else. Your tactic is to use anger as a step in the ladder of your argument. It actually just shines the spotlight on the fact that you are grasping at straws. My daughter gets angry and spiteful when she is wrong as well. She and the American south have a lot of growing up to do.
