This fascinating documentary showcases the premise of speed. Originally a BBC series about the origins of fast vehicles, inclusive of airplanes, cars and boats it will be sure to give you thrills. Put yourself on a speeding rollercoaster, how fast do you think you get? What is it about rollercoasters that give you the thrill, is the speed of them?  From a roller coaster and into a Formula One racer to fighter jets, numerous methods of speed are showcased in the film.

Jeremy Clarkson guides on this thrill-seeking adventure of speed. The series was divided into six episodes with a DVD being released the same year containing highlights from the show. The episodes aired from June to July 2001.

The first of the six episodes being The Thrill of Speed, puts Clarkson on a rollercoaster with his mother before he travels to California to examine dragboat racing.  Superstars of Speed features World Rally Champion Colin McRae, tennis player Greg Rusedski, and Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher investigating why some people adhere to the thrill of speed more than others.

Surviving Speed, Nature Fights Back, Superhuman Speed and The Century of Speed (the remainder of the episodes) continue to examine the many aspects of Speed and how it affects us.

So hold on tight as you’re about to embark on an adventure of speed.
