      Louis Theroux struck gold yet again in this brilliant documentary which featured the ‘Introduction Services’ available in Thailand to men from overseas seeking Thai women for marriage.

      Although presented in a fairly light-hearted format, it was very thought-provoking. Of course, to most of us the notion of these agencies is abhorrent to say the least. However, largely due to the style of presentation, it was quite revealing to listen to the viewpoints of the ‘clients’ and owners, who seemed to feel comfortable expressing their views. Louis Theroux’ style, which does not at first appear overly challenging, allows a truer insight into a person’s behaviour and makes him/her less defensive and consequently more candid.

      That Ronnie guy is GROSS! Getting a 21 year old bride when he is a 55 year old man! He's old enough to be her father! For God's sake, she could hardly speak English and there's no way in hell that she married him for his looks or charm. He even speaks on behalf of her like as though she is still a child. It's basically a step up from prostitution. Exchanging youth, subservience & sex for money & visa to a Western country. If they call it love, I call it denial of the obvious.

      My gosh, this was painful to watch: making marriage a mere business transaction between two people from substantially different cultures who don't even speak each others language.

      I feel sorry for both parties in the Lake marriage. As for Ronnie, he seems to enjoy collecting Thai brides.

      Gaaaaaaah! This is so wrong! You can tell that the documentary is trying to be fair, but even then we can see how twisted these marriages are! The poor woman at the end is probably going to end up at the receiving end of spousal abuse!! Not to mention how creepy Ronnie is, buying tai wife after tai wife just because he isn't good enough for us western women so he inflicts himself on them!
      This documentary makes me sad T_T

      Theroux at his worst , his usual stunned disbelief of the world and the way it works and the people in it. He seems to have real height issues , always walking around lording it over those around him.
      On the doco side ..boy oh boy ..there are some sad and pathetic individuals in the world hey
