Dr. Leonard Susskind offers a different view of the black holes, one that counter claims other works, such as the views by Stephen Hawkings. In this video, which is actually a lecture amongst the scholars of The Commonwealth Club of California, he disproves the theory with Gerard t’Hooft.

Susskind’s dispute has been published in the book of the same title (“The Black Hole War”). In in he wrote:

“How do we use String Theory to prove something about nature if we don’t know that it’s the right theory? For some purposes it doesn’t matter. We take String Theory to be a model of some world and then calculate, or prove mathematically, whether or not information is lost in black holes in that world.”

“Being called a string theorist irritates me; I don’t like being pigeonholed so narrowly.”

“Confusion and disorientation reign…. Very likely we are still confused beginners with very wrong mental pictues, and ultimate reality remains far beyond our grasp… The more we discover, the less we seem to know. That’s physics in a nutshell.”

L O V E D it! Lecture formats are sometimes snoozers – not this one. He transforms complex subject matter into a visual concept that even a simple minded frog, such as I can render.
(but then, he is using polliwogs as his example – I can dig it!)
The hologram theory – that is SO COOL!

      Thanks Jack! You too, DL!
      and HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

Tried 2 browsers and different websites (although it seems they all feed from fora.tv) and the doc doesn't even load. Anyone has any idea why?
