Are birds direct descendants of the dinosaurs? Did the origin of flight happen a billion years ago, when the dinosaurs were its prime inhabitants? In 2002, paleontologists thought they have the answers to prove this with the discovery of a fossil that was named as the Archaeoraptor.

In relation to theory of evolution by Charles Darwin, experts have long been baffled by how birds have originated. It seemd Charles Darwin didn’t have the proper explanation for this species.

Darwin’s colleague, Thomas Henry Huxley, later suggested his own theory, after the examination of a fossil uncovered in southern Germany. The fossil showed feathers and it was believed to be the earliest evidence of the oldest bird. Huxley’s discovery also revealed that the fossil carried a lot of similarities with another dinosaur as the Therapods.

Could the Archaeoraptor be another proof. Following the path to its discovery, which had been all the across China, the Archaeoraptor was then discovered to be an actual fake and was created from several other animals. One of the science journals who published the story and hailed the discovery the first time, admitted it has made a grave mistake.
