The Living Dead

The Living Dead is a documentary by Adam Curtis, describing the effective use of memory management directly after wartimes. When the Second World War ended, and the victorious allies regained total control over territory and media, the next logical step would be to set up a world in which future generations would not be haunted by certain unwanted memories of the past. “It’s all good, we won the war, therefore we must have deserved to win it.” These manipulated memories omit most of the evil that had been going on. The bigger picture of the past had to be cheerful and optimistic for the allies sake. The same thing happened in the Vietnam War: Anybody who is opposed to communism had to be wonderful, etc. The truth is that within a heated war, none of the sides end up being good or even try to be moral, whatever their cause may be. Adam Curtis tells us more in his three-part documentary The Living Dead.
