The Medici, a prominent family from 15th Century Florence, controlled, dominated and led politics and banking in those days. They were not of noble beginnings, although with their influences, they were already close to being a monarchy.

This family was credited for spearheading the Renaissance, a period that ushered in huge changes and feats in the course of history. With their influence and power, the Medici family was instrumental in pushing art, architecture, culture and trade, which history books credit as their legacy.

They were instrumental in producing four Popes of the Catholic faith. The Medicis were said to be one of the wealthiest families in Europe . The family owned Medici Bank became a trusted institution in those days and their system paved the way for how banking is done today.

But what caused the fall of the House of Medici? How did this dynasty lose its stronghold?

This documentary explores the Medici family’s beginnings and contributions to the world, and it also touches in key personalities that made the family prominent, as well as the ones that cause their downfall.
