The universe is a vast and dangerous place with a lot of what is known as hot zones. There are black holes, magnetars and gamma ray bursts happening every now and then.

Black holes can erase the Earth out of the universe, while magentars are so dangerous its effects can wipe out credit card data of the entire planet. A gamma ray burst, meanwhile, happened sometime in 2004, in outer space, but its effects are felt in our atmosphere, even when it’s 50 light years away.
