The Neurons that Shaped Civilization

This documentary is a short 10-minute video presenting neuroscientist Vilayanur Ramachandran who outlines the fascinating functions of mirror neurons. It was only apparently recently discovered that these neurons allow us to learn complex social behaviors. Some of these were instrumental to forming the foundations of human civilization as we know it.
Vilayanur S. Ramachandran is an expert in the field of behavioral neurology and psychophysics. In 2011, Time Magazine has listed him as one of the most influential people of the world and he is noted for his work on neuroimaging while doing experiments and methods that did not rely much on latest technologies.
His approach is simple and yet he is able to come up with certain ideas about how the brain works.
Currently, he works as a Professor in the Department of Psycholog and the Neurosciences Graduate Program at the University of California based in San Diego.
