      The Planets is an eight-part series produced by both BBC and A&E was first aired in 1999. It is one of the most in-depth depiction of the solar system and discusses its history, formation and nature. The series is said to be one of the most educational pieces shown as it contains actual footage of space discoveries by both the United States and the Soviets.

      Narrated by Sam West, the film also adds computer graphic images to provide more details onto the discoveries about our Solar System. The episodes of “The Planets” also feature famous personalities like scientists and explorers, as well as the latest discoveries made in the space age.

      1 Different Worlds – this discusses the attempts of man with space travels and how the rocket ships were conceptualized and invented.
      2 Terra Firma – this episode talks about the terrestrial plants and the latest explorations by man in relation to this.
      3 Giants Looking  - this  is all about the bigger planets like Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. It also features the journey of  Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 in these planets atmosphere.
      4 Moon Detailing – this episode is all about the Moon.
      5 Star Concentrating on the Sun – this talks about the Sun, its behavior and the early ideas man had about it.
      6 Atmosphere – this episode is a comparison of the different atmospheres in the Solar System.
      7 Life – this deals with our quest to find life outside of Earth and if it does exist.
      8 Destiny – this is all about future explorations in space and beyond.
