The Real Neanderthal Man

When people use the word “neanderthal” it is usually in the context of trying to demean someone as the word means a dim-witted and backward human being. But the truth of the matter is that the real Neanderthal was hardly uncultured and stupid. Research and studies based on a fossil that was found in Düsseldorf in the mid-1800s revealed that while the Neanderthals lived 42,000 years ago, they were quite advanced and learned. They were able to make tools and their own clothes, much like craftsmen and engineers. And they taught their young, which was like the early days of homeschooling.
This documentary attempts to recreate the prehistoric era when Neaderthals exisited, using the latest in computer animation. The idea is to understand how they lived and coped with the world that was changing. What we discover from watching this film may give us more insights into our own ways and lifestyle and connect this with our past and history as a human race.
