In 1957, the first satellite was launched in space. It was named Sputnik and with its launch, a revolution was born, one that affected the way man made use of spy satellites and the GPS system to transform the military’s way of communication and information gathering.

“The Satellite Story” is in honor of Sputnik’s 50th anniversary. It tackles the beginnings and inception of the satellite, to its launch and achievements, and to how man has made use of it and how scientists have developed and improvised on t.

At the launch of Sputnik, scientists believed we have come to the Space Age, ushering in a new era  where lives are made better with use of technologies.

Recent developments in the world, however, shos that there may be a vulnerable side to having satellites up on space. This is also discussed in the film and explores the possibility that while satellites have been beneficial to the world, it may also set out a new kind of terrorism.
