India today is fast adapting to technology and is well-known across the world for its familiarity with it. But the rising giant actually has one of the oldest civilizations. With the changes in the world, India’s traditions remain steadfast and strong among its people.

India has a rich, epic history that spans thousands of years and at one point, it had been the center of the world. Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan and the British were just some of the forces that invaded this country, but in spite their power, India’s people remained ingrained in their beliefs and traditions.

India has given birth to Buddhism and Hinduism, two of the most popular religions of the world. It also has great influence over dance and music, and even literature and lately, it’s contributions to science and technology.

Michael Wood takes viewers to the this part of the world to learn about this colorful culture and its history. See India’s wonderful landscapes and witness rites and traditions, and hear inputs from experts and historians as this documentary delivers an in-depth look at one of the world’s most populated and oldest culture.

Brilliant and subtle narration by Michael Wood, and beautifully directed with an inspiring background score. It was a very good and memorable Easter Monday spent.

i am a pakistani but i had no idea hat the place i was born could have that importance in the ancient time i really feel proud to be a pakistani but there is one thing i mus admit now that the teacher in pakistan have not shown us about the real face of great india and paksitan and how unfortunate it is that an outsider is telling us our stories.

I am from India and I totally agree with you Usman, on both of your points, that we share a great history and teachers never really narrate the greatness we have. Our last 50 yrs has overshadowed all that we did together with love and care. I am not blaming any single person for the distances between us; however, we as a nation have failed to look beyond the present disputes and failed to do anything that would be beneficial in the long run.

India (or greater India to be politically correct) is indeed a great mother of many great races, religions and cultures. There is no single region in the world that has given birth to so much diversity as mother India. It is paramount that all people of Indian origin – be they Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalese or whatever know their true history. Only then you will know your heritage and be able to hold your head up high in these challenging world. Om, Salam, Nameste and Sat Sri Akal…

Thanks Micheal for making this documentary which has more meaning than just a film for all people from India and Pakistan .
I really appreciate your efforts for this since you have put forward all your views about religion and history with great details .
I totally agree with previous comments , I follow Hinduism but today I am feeling more Indian .
lastly the interest you showed in knowing different aspect of India is very much appreciated .The way you narrated the story was not even done by some Indian or Pakistani .
      Thanks Again

This is a perversion of the India nation. Some historic facts are right but taken in an inane and childish context. Please dont bother to watch this ethnocentric documentary! If you have any questions about the truth in this muddle and racist film contact me at cameron.garret@eamil.wsu.edu
      Thank you

nepalis in no aspect share the same history with india, because nepal has always maintained its sovereignty still when india was being ruled by the east india company. nepali in no manner are and were as coward as indians and therefore still today have much more self respect and moral values than crused indians. despite this, indians still continue to show their true color of cheat and disgrace by encroaching nepali territory.

Fantastic videos about the history of India but I am disapointed that the last 6 videos have been taken out by the user. Does anyone know how to remedy this problem?
