Themepark 1984

There is nothing exciting and enjoyable about the idea behind Themepark 1984 because this is actually a mockumentary on the communist North Korean government. The documentary is treated with dark humor as it tells the story of North Korea’s plight.
It explores the ideologies of their leaders and shows how much of their influence is over their Korean subjects.
Filmed on the 60th anniversary of the republic, which was held in 2008, the film crew visits the city of Pyongyang and explores the surroundings by:
- going to a spa hotel, which is believed to be radioactive
- visiting the Sinchan Massacre Museum, which has anti-US markings all around it.
- visiting the DMZ themepark
- and then finally the Arirang stadium.
Like a different kind of travel documentary, this film delves on the highs and lows of North Korea. The film also infuses criticms from a Westerner with quite the acerbic tongue, discusses how he sees the country through his eyes.
