Triumph Of The Nerds

A documentary series which has been based on the book “Accidental Empire” by Robert X. Cringly, “Triumph of the Nerds” is a three-part film that shows the beginnings of the personal computer in the 70′s and its rise as a necessity and a portable device throughout the decades.
The first episode deals with the development of an idea, which eventually led to the creation of MS-DOS operating system. This became the system that largely propelled much of how we make use of our computers today.
The second episode is all about the rise of the personal computer’s use and features IBM and Compaq’s products, as well as the emergence of Bill Gates’ company, Microsoft.
The final episode deals with Steve Jobs and the pioneering efforts of his company, Apple.
The documentary features interviews with well-known personalities in Silicon Valley including two of its most formidable characters — Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. This is an interesting take on how this new industry has given birth to a new kind of culture and how it’s development has been made valuable to us today.
