Welcome to Mars

In 2004, Spirit, a rover sent by NASA to the planet Mars, was able to broadcast its first message aboard the planet next to Earth. Scientists everywhere were more than pleased with this feat and this documentary tells of the story behind this historical journey.
After two weeks, the rover Opportunity set foot on Mars as well and following these rovers through NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, are Mark Davis and his documentary crew who presents this film with plenty of behind-the-scene moments, so that viewers can truly understand the significance of this undertaking.
This very ambitious task was done by scientists to determine if there is really life on Mars, by first finding if liquid water exists. This film has its drama and suspense, as well, especially with Spirit breaking down for days, just as Opportunity was set to embark on its journey to Mars.
The rovers further discovered bedrocks and other forumation that stunned the world’s best scientists who are behind this mission, especially since the bedrock, to geoligists, holds all the imprints, history and information they need to learn about the planet next door.
