What Makes a Genius?

Why is it that whenever we hear the word “genius”, the image of Albert Einstein comes to mind? What makes this man so brilliant and is there no one else who can come up the Theory of Relativity the same way he did?
A genius, to most people, is someone with an IQ of over 145, or of kids mostly being great at Spelling or Science Quiz Bees. They belong in the elite class of individuals who comprise roughly 1 or 2% of the world’s population.
But genius, as we come to learn in this documentary by Marcus du Sautoy, isn’t really just limited to that small group.
Marcus du Sautoy, who may have been tagged as a genius at one point, being a professor of Mathematics, made this documentary to find out if there are many more Einsteins in the world.
And in the process of his search, he gets to know different individuals with different types of “genius”. One is an artist who makes his entire house the canvas of his work. Two geniuses that the professor meets are blind, but are gifted with music ability that is superlative.
The documentary also explores how a “genius” is developed as a baby, and how, as teenagers, people tend to lose sight of this gift. Supported by neuroscientists and other experts, this video delves into what the word “genius” geniuinely means.
