WOW this was an awesome series!!!! Thank you very much for sharing it!
great! loved the 1st part with the animalcules!
Bacteria have a horizontal evolution, they can consume and integrate loose strings of genetic material into their own. The latest hypothesis of regarding how the first life on earth evolved is more that various existing cells intermingled and exchanged genetic material like, that one genetic individual wasn't so clear cut from its environment of other genetic individuals as macro-organism can show.
just really is amzing 10/10
best documentary I've ever seen on cells and DNA
I am studying biotechnology and this is just thrilling. This is one of the best documentaries i've ever seen anywhere. The third part was the best to know the future of that field.
I loved this series, as I do most of BBC4's stuff. I was particularly taken by the obvious excitement of Adam when he is shown something impressive and the obvious excitement of many of the other participants, for example Dr. Zita Martins, when she is showing the extra-terrestial origin of some basic amino acids. Great stuff. Thanks!
this is one of the most extraordinary series and it would be amazing if the BBC made more of these kinds of videos
This was BEAUTIFUL
This is a very well made documentary. It’s very informative and well researched, the Host, Dr. Rutherford is very engaging and does a great job of explaining the material so as to be accessible to a wide range of viewers. As a genetics student I already knew most of part 1,2 and part 3 and the specifics of each of the experiments. I watched it with my boyfriend who has very little knowledge of cell biology and he found the material very easy to digest and informative.
5 stars.
When I ponder the incredible and complex workings of the RNA and how it instructs the Ribosome (spelling?) to create all of these different substances, and how every cell is doing it thousands of times a minute, I am reminded of what someone said on the subject. He said there wasn’t enough time in our brief history for all of these functions to have simply evolved on their own. I guess I lean a little towards intelligent design to explain this. Key words being “a little”. A universe of blind forces working on simple elements to create “nano machines” that we can hardly comprehend seems like building the Taj Mahal out of a huge pile of stones with just your knees and elbows. I’m ready to be told that’s stupid but I’m afraid that’s how I see it!
this was pretty well though documentary video. i have watched in my high biology class and it was wonderful to watch and experience especially part two the chemistry of life.
